The DC Jazz Festival 2013
Drummer and Composer Nasar Abadey is the founder, leader and driving force of SUPERNOVA® and states that his band performs music from the threshold of Jazz to beyond space and time; while having an artistic license to express their compositions through traditional African rhythms, bebop, fusion, Afro-Cuban, Afro Brazilian, and free form. Performances in this year’s festival featuring Nasar Abadey will begin on Wednesday, June 5th @ 7:30PM, as The Washington Post presents Jazz at The Hamilton Live and celebrates the timeless classics and future stars. Performances include acclaimed artists, and the opening night special feature will be the Roy Haynes Fountain of Youth Band. Mr. Haynes will be honored with the 2013 DCJF Lifetime Achievement Award, having Nasar Abadey and SUPERNOVA® as the opening act with a tribute to the music of Wayne Shorter. http://www.dcjazzfest.org/jazz-at-the-hamilton-live
Other performances will be on Wednesday, June 12th at 8:00 PM with the Nasar Abadey Trio. A Conversation and Performance in partnership with the Hill Center, (part of Jazz in the ‘Hoods Presented by Events DC). The Free Conversation starts at 7:00 pm; moderated by Ethelbert Miller. Ticketed performance follows. Price: $15 in advance, $20 at the door.
